…that God was in Christ reconciling the world
to Himself… 2 Corinthians 5:19
When we are surrounded by the sights and sounds of Christmas it’s easy to allow ourselves to be consumed by the gifts, the food, the fellowship and all that goes along with the season.
However, as Christians living through each Christmas let us consider Christmas from the heavenly perspective.
God coming to us. Emmanuel. We live and exist by Him and for Him but so many do not know Him. What a tragedy. That we live and breathe and function in His creation and yet we are separated from Him.
So! God in His glorious wisdom sent His Son at the proper time. God the Son. God in the Son. God in the Christ. To fix (reconcile) our account with Him. God Himself looking down from above, did not want to be without you!
What a picture of selfless devotion. That our great God and Savior would leave glory to come and give His life as a ransom for you and me. This is Christmas.
Each person must unwrap the gift for himself. You could not open my heavenly gift and I could not open yours. The gift is free to all who believe. What a great way to spend the holidays (holy days) helping someone discover their own personal gift from above. This is the contemporary Christmas story, the telling of Jesus to those you love.
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now, by telling the story from God’s point of view to someone you love.
