March 21, 2021 From Your Pastor

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

I not sure about you but I know a little hope sounds awfully good right now. Especially the hope that comes from God our Father. If we are to learn anything during this past year I believe one may be the awareness of knowing that God is still in control and in charge.

I remember when one of our kids got separated from us at the big department store. It was only for a moment but to her it seemed an eternity. We could hear her crying out for mom and dad. Walking toward her I was feeling myself her anxiety and fear. I knew where she was, I knew I was listening, I knew I was moving toward her, I knew she was safe. However all these things she had forgotten for the moment. I also knew I was about to remind her of them, when she saw me coming. There was a moment of extreme joy when I turned the corner and our eyes met. She leaped into my arms, safe and sound at last.

Sometimes in our own lives (like this past year) we feel out of sorts, not sure, wandering about, even lost. I can honestly thank my heavenly Father for times like these, so that when He comes to my rescue, I too can experience that same sense of joy. I know once again that He cares.

I know that He was listening.

I know that He is searching.

I know that He will find me.

One more thing He reminds us of. It was I who was wandering. It was I who was dis-connected. It was I who needed to come home. Even in the middle of a crisis, God our Father has not moved. He is still the same. In Him there is no variation or shifting shadow. He is the One bringing to us a future and a hope.

Maybe this morning you realize the fact that you do not know Him as your heavenly Father. You suddenly come to realize your need of Him. You feel undone, you feel lost.

You know there is more to life then what you have been experiencing. My friend, today all that can change. Just as my daughter cried out; so also the Bible gives us great hope in one particular verse.

Romans 10:13 - for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

And again back to Jeremiah 29 – “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13

You see therefore, it cannot be accomplished

half-heartedly. Seek Him for real and you will find Him.
